ZAS RHOSEBUDS

The Rhosebud Club is an affiliate group of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. consisting of a diverse group of girls ages 8 through 11 years. The Rhosebud Club functions at the local level only. Delicate like the petals of a rosebud, this affiliate group is handled with special care and attention. Rhosebud affiliates are organized, maintained, and sponsored by local graduate chapters within each of the geographical regions of the sorority. The program also provides the girls with the energy, support, commitment and encouragement of the Sorors of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to help them develop and succeed in their life’s endeavors. The Rhosebud Club is designed to function with limited programming for this young age group. The idea is to introduce young girls to serving the needs of their community and to provide enlightening experiences for their personal growth and development.

CLUB GOALS

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority seeks to help cultivate girls as they grow into young ladies who are well-rounded and will embody the qualities needed to be good students and productive citizens, engaged in their community. This goal will be achieved through activities that will contribute to the overall well-being of the individual; physically, mentally, and socially:

• Physically – by participating in activities using a holistic approach and focusing on H3 – Healthy Choices, Healthy Living, and Healthy Generations.​

• Mentally – by developing the skills and talents needed to face challenges of today. This includes character building and reinforcing a good value system. As an organization founded by school teachers, Sigma promotes scholarship and participation in educational opportunities such as STEM. The Rhosebuds will be encouraged to participate in sorority programs, especially those involving the youth, such as Wee-savers, Youth Symposium, and the Mwanamugimu Essay Contest.​

• Socially – by providing age-appropriate community service opportunities for social development and cultural awareness.

The Rhosebud Club is an affiliate group of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority consisting of a diverse group of girls ages 8 through 11 years of age. To be eligible for membership in the Rhosebud Club of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, a girl must:

1. Submit a completed application

2. Exhibit good standards of character and conduct

3. Show a willingness to follow all rules and regulations of the Rhosebud Club and participate in Rhosebud sponsored activities
