The name Philo, which means “friend” in Greek, was given to the affiliate organization of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Philos consist of women who do not have a 4-year college degree, but they share the sorority’s principles of sisterhood and service. The purpose of the Philo Affiliate is to unite women of the highest caliber, develop and support educational and cultural work among Rhoers, and take part in other activities that will strengthen Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and improve civic and community conditions.
The purpose of the Rhoer Club is to provide a positive experience for young women ages 12 to 18 in leadership development, academic counseling, personal counseling, mentoring, community service, and rites of passage. They participate in many of the activities of Sigma Gamm Rho Sorority, Inc. as well as special youth development programs.
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority seeks to help cultivate girls ages 8-11 as they grow into young ladies who are well-rounded and will embody the qualities needed to be good students and productive citizens, engaged in their community. This goal will be achieved through Rhosebud Club activities that will contribute to the overall well-being of the individual; physically, mentally, and socially.
